LGS NHL Power Rankings
for games thru 10/30/22
10/31/2022 - By LGS Staff
The staff writers at LetsGoSharks.com submit their league rankings each week, and we average submissions for each team. Here are the LGS NHL Power Rankings for this week:

Rank Rank Last Week Team Record Last 10 The Skinny
1 2 8-1-0 8-1-0 The B’s are back!
2 7 8-2-0 8-2-0 A slow start was a glitch. This team is firing on all cylinders right now.
3 17 6-3-0 6-3-0 Skinner may be the answer in goal for the Oilers Not only is goaltending still a problem, they're not scoring
4 3 5-3-1 5-3-1 This is supposed to be the step-back season for the the Panthers? Sure doesn't appear that way!
5 6 6-2-1 6-2-1 2-for-3 during the week over midfield teams.
6 9 5-3-2 5-3-2 Still climbing as this team ascends trough the rankings. They are solid and getting better.
7 5 5-2-0 5-2-0 Restructured Flames still need some kindling A hot start for the Flames, yet somehow Darrly Sutter is still sour and unhappy.
8 8 6-3-0 6-3-0 Are Buffalo fans being teased again by another good start?
9 4 5-3-1 5-3-1 Dallas fans enjoying the usual Pete DeBoer first season honeymoon, but Jake Oettinger is a big reason.
10 23 6-3-0 6-3-0 Big jump for the Devils, even if Mackenzie Blackwood’s name sounds more like a 1970’s rock star than a goaltender Devils are smoking hot, demolishing the Blue Jackets 7-1 on Sunday and winning 6 of their last 7.
11 18 5-2-1 5-2-1 Philly losses 2 of 3 including a shutout loss to the Sharks. Yikes.
12 20 5-3-1 5-3-1 How far can one line and a great goalie carry you? So far, it appears the answer is the middle of the pack. Jets need some depth if they hope to compete.
13 12 4-3-2 4-3-2 The Wings beat two teams they should, and lose to two they shouldn't. Four game weeks are exhausting, but they finish it with a win over the Wild.
14 14 5-4-0 5-4-0 Lots of miles and wear on this roster, which makes their average start understandable. The Lightning know the only games that really matter are in April onwards. Just get into the dance.
15 27 5-4-0 5-4-0 Three wins out of four for the Isles, including a big win over Colorado on Saturday after beating Carolina on Friday.
16 19 5-4-0 5-4-0 Carey Price says he doesn't plan on retiring. The Habs are surprisingly fun, but probably a year away from the playoff bubble. Is it possible these two things line up?
17 11 4-4-2 4-4-2 Poor start, losing games to non-playoff teams. Fans want Barry Trotz, but aren’t they still paying Mike Babcock’s contract? Listen up, Leaf fans: It's going to be okay. It's better to struggle in Oct than in April or May.
18 16 5-4-1 5-4-1 Suddenly looking too old and too slow. Can Ovi keep up the pace if the rest of the team falls back?
19 1 4-4-1 4-4-1 Pens and Blues have been in free falls, both on recent 4-game losing streaks.
20 21 6-5-0 6-4-0 Wins over Tampa Bay and Toronton tarnised by a loss to Winnipeg. All home games.
21 13 4-4-1 4-4-1 Gabriel Landeskog's knee injury means the Central Division is wide open
22 10 3-5-0 3-5-0 The Blues enjoyed a light schedule early but 4 games last week resulted in three losses. They scored 7 goals in 4 games last week.
23 15 4-4-0 4-4-0 Sens are showing flashes of becoming a good team. Is this the Claude Giroux effect, or are the youth learning on the fly?
24 22 4-3-2 4-3-2 A tough week schedule wise is tempered by a split in the Hawks 4 games. They are doing their best to prove the naysayers wrong.
25 28 4-4-1 4-4-1 Can Fleury make the Wild a surprise like he did in Vegas?
26 26 4-4-2 4-4-2 Not sure what to make of these guys. They beat tough opponents in Buffalo and PIttsburgh, then they drop gimmees to Chicago and Vancouver.
27 24 3-5-1 3-5-1 “Can we go back to Europe and play the Sharks again?”
28 31 2-5-2 2-5-2 Bruce Boudreau a surprise favorite in the first-coach-to-be-fired pool
29 25 3-7-0 3-7-0 A 6-3 loss to Arizona is something that doesn't go unnoticed.
30 29 2-6-1 2-6-1 Three losses against capable teams offset by a win over Toronto in OT.
31 32 2-5-1 2-5-1 Pretty bad when you can’t fill a 5000 seat arena for your home opener. The Coyotes allow 5.2 goals per game, which tracks out to 426 for a full season. That would be the 2nd worst mark of all time. Who says there's nothing to play for in Arizona?!
32 30 3-8-0 3-7-0 Sharks have won 3 of their last 6 starting 0-5. Still not good enough to contend.
