Game 5 Notes
Series quick hits
4/17/08 - By Mike Lee

* Patrick Marleau and Joe Pavelski extended their point streaks to five games. Both players have six points (2 goals, 4 assists) during the playoffs.

* Ryane Clowe recorded his team leading eighth point of the playoffs. With an assist, Clowe now has four goals and four assists in five games this series.

* Joe Thornton, Milan Michalek (twice) and Jerome Iginla all missed on breakaway chances.

* With an assist on the Sharks second goal of the night, Joe Thornton has recorded five points in the last three games of the series. Thornton has one goal and four assists in that span.

* The Sharks get a day off on Friday, and will return to practice on Saturday morning, before departing for Calgary later that day.

* While the game was physical, it was devoid of much of the post whistle chipiness that we've seen in the first 4 games.

* The extent of McLaren's injury is not known, but he has been nursing a bum knee since returning to the ice late in the regular season.

* Ryane Clowe had some choice words for the Flames after one stoppage, mocking the Flames by pretending to wipe away tears from his eyes.

* The arena seating area was spotted with red jerseys. Maybe 50 Calgary fans made their way to the game, a fraction of red that visited HP Pavilion in 2004.

* In case you were interested, the Sharks are 8-9 in playoff games in which they have the opportunity to eliminate their opponent.

* The 10 shots Evgeni Nabokov faced in Game 4 set a new franchise record for fewest shots faced in a playoff game.
