Dan Buccella - London
Knights (OHL)
Buccella was suspended 15 games last week by the Ontario
Hockey League for being a bully. OHL commissioner David Branch announced the
suspension after conducting a hearing with Buccella and Knights general manager
Mark Hunter on Wednesday in Toronto.
"I guess I really wasn't in the
good books with Dave Branch and (with) the past history of the London Knights,
neither of it helped,'' said Buccella, who last season was suspended for 12
games while playing for the Peterborough Petes.
Buccella, 17, started a
fight with Storm top scorer Dustin Brown 13 seconds into the second period
during a Nov. 4 game in Guelph. A line brawl then ensued and Buccella was
ejected for being the aggressor. He was indefinitely suspended Nov. 9.
Branch said Buccella verbally challenged Brown before the faceoff.
"(Brown) didn't want any part of it and after the faceoff, Buccella
applied a late hit (on Brown),'' Branch said. |
