Post Game Notes: Wild @ Sharks
San Jose 3 - Minnesota 2
3/17/11 - By Mike Lee -

» Couture's goal extended his team record for goals by a rookie in a season (27). The old mark was held by Pat Falloon, who scored 25 goals in 1990-91.

» Jason Demers set a career high in points with his assist on Couture's goal (22).

» Minnesota was out-shot for the 62nd time this season. It was the second time San Jose put 50 shots on goal this season. They also plastered Nashville with 50 back on February 15th.

» Joe Pavelski added two assists, to go along with his career high 4 on Tuesday. Pavelski led the team with 7 shots on goal as well.

» One of the reasons the Sharks were able to get so many pucks on net was their dominance in the faceoff circle. San Jose won 42 of 62 draws (68%). Joe Thornton won 12 of 16 faceoffs.

» Patrick Marleau scored his 67th career game-winning goal. Marleau is now tied for 39th place on the NHL All-Time List.

» Marc-Edouard Vlasic was back in the lineup after paying a visit to a Dallas hospital on Tuesday night. Vlasic was hit in the throat with a deflected puck and was sent to the hospital as a precaution. Vlasic had a relatively light shift load on Thursday, logging only 17 minutes of ice time on 23 shifts. The defenseman had 2 blocked shots.

» Niclas Wallin was scratched from the game, because of the injury he sustained in Dallas. Wallin was plastered from behind by Jamie Langenbrunner.

» Dany Heatley served the first of his two-game suspension for the elbow he directed at Stars knuckle-head Steve Ott. Heatley contends that he never actually made contact with Ott's dome.

» Quote of the Day: As reported by David Pollak from the SJ Mercury News, Heatley responded to comments that Ott made about Heatley's elbow being a cheap shot: "I'm not going to get into a war of words with him. Obviously he's taken his fair share of suspensions in the league. For him to all of the sudden have a halo on his head is kind of funny."
