BlackArmor set to be unveiled
on Friday New Sharks 3rd jersey
leaked 11/19/08 - By Mike Lee
The
Sharks are set to unveil their new Seagate BlackArmor jerseys on Friday
November 21st at 10:00AM in a special ceremony. The Sharks will officially hit
the ice in their new sweaters on Saturday night against the Washington Capitals
at HP Pavilion. The new 3rd jersey will be worn by the Sharks during their next
four home games.
Images of the new black jersey were leaked on
Icethetics.info early Wednesday. The image reveals the new full body shark
logo, which will serve as both the primary crest as well as the shoulder
logo.
The shoulder logo also introduces new "SJ" lettering, along with a
mini-version of the new fin design that was showcased two summer's ago, when
the new logo patterns were introduced.
Teal and white stripes adorn the
arms at the elbow, which is the only color you'll see on the jersey other than
on the crest, shoulder patches and numbering.
The Sharks will utilize a lace up collar for the first
time, following a theme that has become more popular across the NHL. The laces
pay tribute to jerseys of the early NHL, providing little functional value to
the jersey.
The new sweater also lacks any striping at the bottom, which
is a departure from Shark designs of the past. The simple black design looks
more like a practice jersey, than game night threads.
San Jose's
previous 3rd jersey was also black, but was closer to the primary home and away
pattern than the newer design.
Pricing information for the new jersey
has yet to be announced, but pro models are expected to fetch the same price as
the existing home and away models, which retail in the $290 range.
