Feeder Night at the
Duke Grub, Grog & Goals 11/9/06 - Mike Lee
|
The
Feeder Faithful having a blast at the Duke |
What could be better than watching the Sharks pummel the Los
Angeles Kings? That's easy. Watching them pummel the Kings with 30 of your
hockey buds at a raucous pub. And so it went at TheFeeder's first ever Road
Game Pub Night, held at the Duke of Edinburgh in Cupertino on Thursday night.
The Feeder faithful showed up donning their Pacific Teal, ready to spend half
the night pumping their fists into the air as goal after goal rained down on
the Kings.
Most of the attendees were members of TheFeeder's online community. Those on
hand enjoyed British fare and libations while the game was broadcast on the new
HD plasmas hanging in fine pub fashion.
Things got off to a bit of a shaky start, when the pub manager couldn't find
the broadcast on the telly. Calm was restored before the opening faceoff,
allowing everyone to settle in for the game.

At both intermissions, separate Sharks trivia contests were held in traditional
pub fashion. Mrs. Ski, SupaFly and Murfburger triumphantly topped the other
participants, collecting some vintage Feeder T-shirts as prizes.
The highlight of the evening repeated itself seven times, as the pub erupted
each time the Sharks scored. Seven San Jose goals had the regulars wondering
what all the racket was all about. High-5's filled the room each time the
Sharks scored. The roar of the crowd brought an energy to the room that the
patrons of the Duke will not soon forget.
Special thanks go out to David M* for making the necessary arrangements with
the pub. Can't wait until we get to do it all again.
