Our weekly selection of hockey moves that leave us scratching our heads. Started back in 2007, HotW was an institution around these parts or years. As research time became more scarce, we let it lapse, but by the grace of a Gordie Hull Hat Trick, it's back!

We don't recommend that any of these feats be attempted at home, nor do we suggest that you you these fine folks as role models for your children.

For the Week of 11/24/08
Frédérick Roy - Quebec Remparts

There appears to be a trend in Quebec, home of the QMJHL's Remparts. Those would be the same Remparts coached by former Montreal Canadiens / Colorado Avalanche goaltender Patrick Roy. Oh, and the trend once again includes one of Roy's sons. This time Roy's progeny Frédérick is the focus of attention.

Roy's other son, Jonathan, was involved in some shenanigans last March when he engaged an unwilling Bobby Nadeau of Chicoutimi, in a fight during a Remparts brawl.

This time, it was Frédérick's turn to add to the classless Roy legacy. While getting their asses clearly handed to them by the Montreal Juniors, the Remparts tried to even the score with their fists. A brawl broke out and the younger Roy showed everyone that he was indeed his father's son.

From Orcasound.com:

"Things culminated with Frédérick Roy, who had already taken a five minute major in the second, earning a game misconduct for cross checking Vincent Bourgeois, another former Rempart, in the face. When the teams got back to playing hockey Angelo Esposito completed his hat trick after Quebec captain Kevin Marshall had beaten Allen with a "cannonading" blast from the point with the Remparts on the power play."

The QMJHL suspended Roy on Monday for 15 games.

"The suspension follows an incident that occurred during last Friday's game against the Montreal Juniors in which Roy crossed-checked an opponent in the head. This gesture took place after a stoppage in play, hits were exchanged with a final blow going to the face of the opposing player. The decision was rendered after reviewing the videotape of the incident and consulting all concerned parties."
