If visors are mandatory, won't the fighting rules have to be changed? Or maybe there will be less fighting? Or fighting will consist of Shelley and Boogard trying to pull each other's helmets off instead of trying to punch the snot out of each other.

Just food for thought.

right now you get an additional 2 if you instigate a fight with a visor on. that's why you'll see murray remove his helmet when he drops his gloves before any actual punching takes place.

Yeah, but don't forget, the "next whistle" could take 10 minutes of playing time. I have literally been stuck at the top of the staricase and had to watch the game standing inside the tunnel for over 10 minutes because I got to the top of the steps a with only seconds remaining in the intermission and didn't want to block anyone's view getting to my seats. And then for some bizarre reason there was an incredible amount of flow to the game and there were no freaking whistles for over ten minutes. My friends were wondering if I had left the game and gone home because I took so loing to finally show up.

Do you think any team is going to agree to a rule change that has the potential to keep their #1 goalie off the ice for 1/6 of the game?

Interesting idea to make the goalies pay the time for their own crime, but ultimately not feasible.

This is interesting and something I didn't know. having two goalies on the ice is an automatic "too many men" penalty? even if you DON'T have too many men out there?
I tend to agree that Goalies should serve their own penalties, and the obvious solution is to remove this version of "too many men."

I don't know if it's been mentioned, but I've always been a big fan of the idea that goalies should be fair game for contact if they are behind the goal line. Remove the trapezoid and make it legal to "separate a goalie from the puck" with extreme prejudice. ph34r.gif

The rule is you can't have more than one goaltender on the ice at a time...
