• Nieto won back-to-back gold medals with Team USA at the Under-18 World Championship (2009 and 2010) and participated in the evaluation camp for the 2011 World Junior Championships. In 2009, he was the youngest member to make the World Championship team, making the jump to the Under-18 team alongside Jason Zucker (59th overall by Minnesota in 2010) -- both were leading scorers for the Under-17 team and played youth hockey in Los Angeles.

• He played his minor hockey in California until the age of 14 when he decided to go to Salisbury School in Connecticut for a year and then on to the U.S. National Team Development Program in Michigan.

• He got his start in roller hockey at three years old at the local YMCA alongside 2010 Anaheim draft selection Emerson Etem (29th overall) and fellow draft prospect Rocco Grimaldi (No. 33 ranked).

• Winning a silver medal with Team USA at the 2010 Ivan Hlinka Memorial tournament and winning the Rocket Richard trophy at the Quebec Peewee International tournament are two of his favorite hockey moments.

• He got his start in hockey around the age of three, developing a love for the game while visiting family over the holidays and skating on ponds outside of Toronto.

• His most cherished hockey possession is a signed Rick Nash hockey stick.

Wilson does it again

The San Jose Sharks GM Doug Wilson pulled no punches with his draft day trade that brings All-Star D-Man Brent Burns from The Minnesota Wild in exchange for Devin Setoguchi, Charlie Coyle and the Sharks first round pick from this year's draft. Wilson has a history of trading a lot of Sharks first and second round picks and this one was a doozy.

Sharks acquire Burns for Setoguchi
The NHL Entry Draft is an opportunity for teams to stock their rosters with players that can eventually bring value. Sharks General Manager Doug Wilson decided to forgo the future in exchange for a proven commodity that he hopes can bring Northern California its first Stanley Cup now. That commodity came in the form of defenseman Brent Burns [Profile], who the Minnesota Wild sent to San Jose along with a 2nd round draft pick in 2012, for Devin Setoguchi, 2010 1st round pick Charlie Coyle and the Sharks 1st round pick this year.
